February Workshop with Rayna Gilman - Cinderella Blocks - Reinventing the UFO

I am pleased to announce that we will be having a workshop and lecture with New Jersey quilter and teacher, Rayna Gilman.  She got rave reviews from the other Guilds that attend MAQNET.  The workshop she will be presenting will demonstrate how to take your "orphan" blocks  (you know, the ones that are left over from projects or those that you ended up not liking...... I have plenty) and transform them into beautiful new projects.

The workshop will be February 18th from 9:30 to 4:30.  The tentative location is the Switlik Center.  The cost is $60.

  1. Hi everybody! I'm always excited about teaching the UFO workshop because it is so much fun! If you don't have any orphan blocks or unfinished tops just make a couple of simple 4 patches or 9 patches of fabrics you don't particularly like and bring them in to redo. OR - ask a friend to donate hers. When I wrote my most recent book, Create Your Own Free-Form Quilts, my friend Rachel donated some ugly blocks for the cause - LOL.

If you have fabrics in your stashe you'll never use because they are out of date or if you ask yourself "what was I thinking when I bought this?", make some ugly 4 patches or 9 patches to hand bring in. It doesn't take long to make a few 6"-8" simple blocks and you will be amazed at how much better they will look after you've sliced and diced them!

I'll even make a few random blocks for you to play with and bring them with me. Look forward to playing with you in February. If you have any questions, email me rgillman@studio78.net
    best,
    Rayna
